Happy New Year!
At the start of each new year I like to choose a word to be an intention or guiding force throughout the year. This year my word is BLOOM. As in years past, I’m participating in Ali Edwards One Little Word® class. I love having a new prompt each month to help me think about my word. It helps keep my word active in my mind, instead of it receding into the background as I go about everyday life. Registration is still open for Ali’s class if you’d like to sign up!
Here are a few photos of how I completed the prompt this month. (I apologize for the glare from the plastics in these photos.) I pretty much followed Ali’s lead. I love the look of her work, and doing exactly as she did gave me much less to think about. Simple=done. That’s a lesson I’ve learned over time, and I’m embracing it this year.
Doing the work in this class is not about being creative for me. I have plenty of other outlets for that. For me it’s about spending time thinking about my word, what it means to me, and how I want my word to work in my life this year.
Having the word BLOOM in my life means allowing myself to bloom, letting myself open up to people and situations I would normally shy away from.
Blooming is about pushing myself out of my comfort zone more often.
Blooming is about experimenting to see what happens.
Blooming is about feeling the fear and doing it anyway.
Blooming is about loving myself and caring for myself in new way. It’s about taking self love and self care to the next level.
Blooming is about giving up old beliefs and old habits in exchange for newer, more positive ways of thinking and living.
Blooming is about replacing learning with doing.
Blooming is about replacing comparison and competition with community.
Blooming is about living each day with intention and purpose.
I think 2016 is going to be an amazing year. I am ready for a year of all kinds of crafting goodness. I have a lot of plans in place and some ideas swirling in my head. I’m excited to share it all here as we continue to build a community of creative friends.
