Our latest Shiny Object is the Get to Work Book™ which is designed by Elise Blaha Cripe, who we love here at the Crafty Dabbler. Both Jennifer and I ordered the 2015-16 version of the Get to Work Book™ and are just getting started using it but here are my thoughts on this unique take on the planner.
If you’ve had any of the popular planner types out there in the last few years, the Get to Work Book™ is about the same size. It is the size of a book so it isn’t going to slip into most purses but if you carry a bag for work or work from home like I do, the size isn’t an issue. With the planner craze it seems that color has been all the rage. I’ve had some very colorful planners which I’ve enjoyed but the idea of this planner is that you can customize the look if that is your thing. I don’t have a lot of time for that and I typically like to use pencil in my planner so that I can erase as needed. I actually have found that like the simplicity of the black and white throughout and if I feel like adding color I might just get out my colored pencils.
What I love about the design is that it leaves so much space for ideas and project thoughts. This is not something you see in the typical planner and I love it! I do use it to write down what is going on in our schedule but my plan is to use it for big thinking and ideas so I can keep them all in one place. I especially love the graph paper design on the project pages and at the bottom of each wee. Graph paper is so versatile. It can be used for lists, layouts, drawings, etc. but it provides a little more structure than just a blank page. It might be my favorite thing about the Get to Work Book™. That and the tear out sayings that you can use for inspiration even when you have moved on to the next book.
I think the Get to Work Book™ does a great job of providing flexibility in a planner and a little motivation along the way. At $60 the price point seems to be at about the mid point for most planners today and I think if you use it to its full potential it is well worth the money. People were so excited about this new product that the 2015-16 version is actually sold out but pre-orders are being taken for the 2016 version.
