I love the weekend. I’m thankful for the weekend, especially this weekend. Since we started school on Tuesday, we are all tired and can use some down time.
Saturday is different from the other days, but as I started putting this post together, I was surprised at how similar our activities are. We all kind of do the same things every day.
Click these links to see what our Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday looked like. I’m so proud of myself for keeping up with this project. I’m ready to be done, but I’m so glad I’ve done it.
Here’s a look at my Saturday photos and words:
Saturday morning allowed for a little sleeping in late. I love when I can wake up on my own and not to an alarm. It’s 7am in this photo and not much light is coming into my bedroom. This is the first thing I see most mornings. This big, giant blank wall and a 75lb dog pressed up against my legs. We’ve lived here about a year and a half and I still haven’t done anything with this wall. I don’t know WHAT to do with that wall. I’m open for suggestions.
Back in “my spot” for my coffee and a look online. This morning I added a chocolate protein shake. I’ve been skipping breakfast way too much lately. It’s time to get back to eating more healthy and moving my body. sigh
All these open cabinets are a sign that he’s been here. It drives me crazy, but he’s always done this since I’ve known him. I assume he’s somewhere having his coffee.
Found him! Most mornings he sits in here checking email and things online. You could say this is “his spot.”
Mara comes downstairs after a long, late sleep. She needed that so badly. It’s 10:15 and I think her brother and sister are still sleeping. Teenagers. Mara and I spend some time talking and making plans for the day.
Not too long after Mara finishes up, Adam comes down for breakfast. We sit and talk for a while, too. He was excited to tell me all about the balls he got from the game last night. I love that he loves baseball.
For the longest time now, Ross and I have been needing to go through our closet and get rid of things that no longer fit or that we’re not wearing. Today we sort of spontaneously got started on this, and I’m so glad. We created quite a pile of stuff to donate, and Ross was super cooperative. I’m glad to have this task done!
As I pass through the kitchen I notice Mara sitting out on the patio by herself. She’s waiting on her friend to get here for a play date. I wonder what she’s thinking about, and I’m reminded of how easy going she is. She’s always been perfectly happy to be by herself and make her own fun.
Merry Christmas?? I spent some time this afternoon going to a few of my local craft stores. I’m not sure why I was surprised to see all the Christmas decorations, but I was. It’s August 22nd, people! Really?? Why is this necessary?!
I love when he covers his eyes from the light as he sleeps.
We don’t usually do a whole lot on the weekend, especially at night. It was fun for a change to go to the Charlotte Panthers first preseason home game. This was Mara’s first professional football game. Being there made me excited to go more often this fall and winter. It was fun to do something around town as a family. I love my little family SO MUCH!!
Just one more day of documenting to go. I love this project, and I’m excited to see how I can get all these photos and words together into an album.
Thanks so much for being here.
